Description

The Foundation provides funding to projects in the UK that benefit the visually impaired.  It funds work to assist and improve the treatment and education of the visually impaired.  It also funds medical research and facilities for the treatment or alleviation of visual impairment.

The Ulverscroft Foundation Grant is provided and administered by The Ulverscroft Foundation and is for voluntary and community organisations in the UK.

The scheme is intended to fund projects that support people with visual impairments (the blind and partially sighted).


Latest Information

The trustees consider appeals in January, April, July and October each year. Application deadlines are the 15th day of the previous month - 15 December, 15 March, 15 June and 15 September.


Key Criteria

Funding is available to recognised organisations that help the visually impaired in the UK.  These include universities, libraries, hospitals, clinics, schools, colleges and social welfare organisations.


Eligible Expenditure

The Foundation supports projects that will have a positive effect on the quality of life of visually impaired people (blind and partially sighted).

Restrictions

The Foundation does not generally grant assistance towards salaries and general running costs, and rarely gives grants to individuals.


Application Procedure

Applications should be made in writing and should include details of the current service, if any, the applicant provides to the visually impaired and how the proposed project will be integrated or enhanced.  Applications should also include an estimate of how many visually impaired people will benefit from the project and details of any other funding obtained.

Applications should be accompanied by a copy of the applicant’s latest annual report and accounts.
